About me: Hi my name is James Shergold and I am 16 years old and two of my favourite hobbies are birdwatching and photography. I started birdwatching in 2006 after a trip to Bulgaria with my family where Me and My Dad went bird watching in the surronding areas of our hotel. After seeing birds such as Golden Oriole, Red Backed Shrikes,Booted Eagles and Rough Legged Buzzards, I was hooked on it. Then when I came back from holiday I started to birdwatch my local nature reserve and gravel pits, (Attenborough and Long Eaton GP) where I have had been rewarded with rarities such as Penduline Tit, Whisked Tern & Buff Breasted Sandpiper and in the winter we have had up to three Bitterns. Also I love to watch the spectical that is migration and watching the movement of wildlife. But all this does not come with out the missed birds. But thats what I think makes birding intresting. You never know what you might see. Since then I have become hooked on Photography aswell. I think this makes birdwatching more magical by capturing what you have seen as an image so you can look back and never forget. And just the beautiful magic of capture wildlife amazes me.
