Crown brown. Long white brow. Black face (and throat, ♂). Back, flight feathers and tail rufous (♂ with black spotting on upper back). Wing-coverts dark, tipped pale buff. Below buff-grey. ♂ has black spots in a band across mid-breast, whiter below.
