An untidy bird with the head reddish-ochre and feather shafts dark. Dark brown back with whitish shafts. Back and rump white. Underparts ochreous, throat and breast streaked dark. Long tail yellowish-ochre at the base, central feathers dark brown, rest black with broad white tip.
